Just so you know, I don't really do short and sweet. I'm more of a hopelessly long winded kind of girl. :-)

1. Can you cook?

No. I am one of the women that Gordon Ramsay complains about. I do try but I'll never be someone who can just throw lots of different ingredients together and come up with something lovely. I need precise quantities and detailed instructions or I freak out.

2. What was your dream growing up?

I had lots, none of which were grounded in reality. I wanted to find out I was really a princess or a superhero and I was convinced I was going to marry Morten Harket. I never had a dream job or anything like that.

3. What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could sing.

4. Favorite place?

Edinburgh is where my heart is. I also love San Francisco, Boston, London and New York City.

5. Favorite vegetable?

Potatoes. Mashed or roasted but not boiled.

6. What was the last book you read?

I tend to have half a dozen on the go at once, including a number I'm rereading. The last new book I read was The Abortionist's Daughter. I am currently reading Blue Shoes and Happiness and The Other Boleyn Girl.

7. What zodiac sign are you?

Leo. I share my birthday with Terry Wogan.

8. Any tattoos and/or piercings?

I have my ears pierced twice.

9. Worst habit?

Fidgeting, particularly continually shaking one leg while typing. Drives my husband mad.

10. Do we know each other outside of LiveJournal?

No.

11. What is your favorite sport?

Football. I don't play sports due to a severe lack of anything approaching coordination but I enjoy watching them. I also like tennis and swimming.

12. Do you have a negative or optimistic attitude?

It depends what day of the week it is.

13. What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?

Talk about what it would be like if Craig Gordon was in there with us.

14. Worst thing to ever happen to you?

Dad being diagnosed with cancer twice.

15. Tell me one weird fact about you.

The little toes on both my feet are about half the size of all the others and kind of scrunched up as if they forgot to grow properly. I think it's hereditary as Dad and my nephew have the same thing.

16. Do you have any pets?

A husband. And a share in Lucy, my parents' dog.

17. Do you know how to do the Macarena?

That one was a little after my time but I do remember the dance to Whigfield's Saturday Night and I'll do the Timewarp again if you ask nicely.

18. What time is it where you are now?

6.06pm and time for pizza.

19. Do you think clowns are cute or scary?

When I was in my early teens my friend had an obsession with Stephen King adaptations. We watched many of them in the early hours of a morning during a sleepover - or rather she watched and I pretended to be asleep.

So scary, thanks to IT.

20. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?

My nose. In third year at school a mean boy compared it to Concorde.

21. Would you be my partner in crime or my conscience?

I'm an excellent getaway driver.

22. What color eyes do you have?

They were once described as yellow. I prefer to think of them as brown.

23. Ever been arrested?

No but I have been given a lift home by a CID officer in his unmarked police car. We got him to put the siren on.

24. Bottle or draft?

Cocktails don't come in either form.

25. If you won £10,000 today [$20,000 for the Americans], what would you do with it?

Give some to the Dog's Trust, buy some jewellery, shoes and a handbag, go on holiday and put anything left in the mortgage.

26. What kind of bubble gum do you prefer to chew?

Big Red.

27. What's your favorite bar to hang at?

Tempus in George Street.

28. Do you believe in ghosts?

Sometimes. I've never seen one though.

29. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Watch a film.

30. Do you swear a lot?

Too much.

31. Biggest pet peeve?

Smoking.

32. In one word, how would you describe yourself?

Loud.

33. In one word, how would you describe me?

Interesting.

34. Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

Sure. And don't worry about your response getting lost in a vast friends list :-)

Haha. Yes, talking about Craig Gordon would be good. Or devising a plot to get him in the elevator with us ;).

Another member of Dog's Trust? (I still can't get used to calling it that, I prefered the NCDL). That was my first charity thing when I was younger, sponsoring a dog!

Cocktails. Sensible you!

Now I'll go fill this out in your journal...

It was the NCDL when I first started donating and I can't get used to it either - it's one of the charities I give to through payroll. I went to their centre at West Calder when my parents were looking for a dog and they do such good work! I couldn't pick an individual dog to sponsor.

When cocktails are too expensive, I tend to go for shots instead. Cheaper but messier in my experience!
