Warning: Boys kissing and saying bad words.

A cadet ran up to him in the hallway. She saluted him, then Bridge, before turning back to Sky and stuttering, “Cadet Landors requests that you see him in training room three, sir.”

Bridge shifted, but Sky answered before his friend could ask any questions. “Thank you, Cadet.”

She skittered off down the hall. Bridge turned to Sky with a frown. “That’s weird. I wonder – ”

“He’s probably just being annoying again,” said Sky. “I’ll see you soon.”

Bridge might have called something after him, but Sky didn’t pause to listen.

Jack was replaying a simulation when Sky walked in. The Red Ranger already wore work-out clothes, t-shirt clinging to his chest. Sky forced himself to look elsewhere.

“You requested my presence?” he said.

Jack nodded, face close to expressionless. “I’ve been reviewing some of our recent training exercises,” he said. “And I feel there are some things that could be improved.”

“Fine,” said Sky, sounding irritated. He knew anyone watching the security tape would pick up his annoyance at the condescending attitude of someone yanked off the street and made Sky’s superior.

But like the good cadet he was, when Jack said, “Perhaps we could discuss it while you get changed,” he followed the other man to the changing rooms.

Out of sight of the camera, Jack spun round to push Sky up against the wall. “I’ll help you get changed,” he muttered, before attacking Sky’s mouth with lips and teeth and tongue. His body pressed against Sky’s, chests and thighs rubbing together. “Fuck,” he muttered. “I thought we’d never get away.”

He kissed Sky again, and Sky opened his mouth willingly, reaching up to curl his fingers around Jack’s wrists. The other man’s fists were clenched in his jacket, and he couldn’t help but worry about wrinkles.

Until Jack pulled away from his mouth, moving down to brush his teeth against Sky’s neck. Sensation sparked through his chest and down to his cock, till all he could do was moan.

He felt Jack grin, and the other boy pushed harder against him, so hard it almost hurt. Sky twisted, managing to get his hands up to tangle in Jack’s hair, gripping those stupid dreadlocks. That distracted Jack long enough for Sky to turn the tables a little, kissing back, sliding his tongue past Jack’s lips to rub against his gums.

“Sky?”

Jack pulled back, staring at Sky with a mixture of horror and frustration. “Shit.”

Bridge called again. “Sky?”

“He knows we’re in here,” Sky told Jack. “He was with me when I got your message.”

Jack scowled, wiping his mouth before stomping over to the door and flinging it open. “What?”

Sky sighed, giving up any ideas of time alone with Jack, and straightened his jacket.

“Um, well, Sky and I were going to the admin office – because they wanted us all to fill in those forms, remember? Except then he got your message, so I thought, why don’t I just get Sky his form, because they’re quite long, so…”

“So you’ve got a form for Sky?” Jack asked.

“Yeah, and then, on my way here, I bumped into Commander Cruger, which was really quite lucky, because…”

“Let me guess. He wants to see me?” said Jack, sounding as if he very much hoped the answer would be ‘no’.

“Yes,” said Bridge.

“Fine,” muttered Jack. “Sky, don’t bother getting changed after all.”

This time, the cadet who found him was male. He sounded just as nervous. “Um, Cadet Tate?”

“Yes?”

“Cadet Landers wanted to see you at the start of the mud swamp run, sir.”

Syd, whom he’d just come off patrol with, sounded predictably indignant. “What? I thought he’d gotten over the whole high-and-mighty leader thing.”

“It’s not you he’s asking, just – ”

“Exactly! It’s so obvious he’s just doing this to get revenge for…whatever. Look,” she said, turning to the Cadet, and gesturing back down the hall. “You just run back to Jack and tell him we’ve not come back from patrol yet. It’ll soon get dark, he can’t make you run the it then.”

The cadet paled at the idea of lying to the Red Ranger. Sky suppressed a groan. He supposed he should be grateful he had friends who wanted to ‘help’ him like this. It was just a pity he felt like killing them all. “No, it’s fine. I’ll go. He probably just wants to talk about something.”

Syd snorted. “Yeah, right. Look, Sky, I know you’re worried about getting in trouble for disobeying orders or whatever, but you shouldn’t just go along with all his little power trips!”

“Syd, it’s fine. It’ll be a chance to show him how much faster I am.” He reached out to mess with her hair, knowing there was nothing that could make her leave faster. “See you.”

As soon as she was out of sight, he broke into a jog, taking the fastest route through the halls to where Jack waited.

*

Jack moaned into Sky’s mouth. The sound spurred Sky on to kiss harder, burrowing his hands under Jack’s shirt. He touched warm skin, feeling it flex under his fingers. As he lightened his touch, the muscles in Jack’s stomach jumped. The other man gave him a light shove. “That tickles.”

Sky relented, trailing his fingers back up Jack’s chest. He took his time exploring, running fingertips over goose-pimpled skin lightly scattered with hair. Jack let him experiment, telling him ‘good’ an ‘bad’ with soft sounds and touches. When Sky flicked a finger over a tight, peaked nipple, Jack groaned, reaching down to yank Sky’s hips against his.

Sky didn’t resist, grinding against him, kisses becoming sloppy and hungry. Sky felt the world fade away, obstacles and trees and the ground under his feet all melting away. Only Jack stayed solid, hot and wanting against him.

Jack heard the beeping first, pulling away just far enough to glare at Sky. “That better not be your communicator.”

It was. Sky took a few deep breaths before answering. “Yes?”

“It’s me,” said Syd, sounding smug. “The Commander wants you.”

“Does he?”

There was a pause, which Sky interpreted as no. The was Syd trying to do him a favour, rescue him from having to do a hellish obstacle course with someone he supposedly hated after a long patrol.

She’d be suspicious if he refused to come in. “Fine,” he said, then, feeling ungrateful, added, “Thanks,” before ending the connection.

“Thanks?” Jack echoed, and Sky couldn’t help but smile a little at his obvious frustration. “Yeah, thanks. How do you think I should thank her? Maybe by cutting Peanuts ears off…”

*

Sky sealed the door closed, ignoring the monster flinging itself against the bars. Brute strength wouldn’t be enough to get them open.

Jack stood a little further down the hall, smiling now their job was done. “I don’t have to send a cadet this time,” he said.

“And there’s no one around to interrupt us,” said Sky. Over the noise of the monsters, all screaming abuse at the two SPD rangers in their hallway, no camera would be able to hear them. “Do you want to go anywhere?”

“Where’s the nearest bathroom?”

“I am not making out in a toilet.”

Jack didn’t waste time trying to persuade him. “One day, we are going to tell people, and we can start doing this in my room.”

“We can’t tell people, because – ”

“SPD regulation blah-blah-blah, and they’ll get suspicious if we start spending all our time together, I get it.” He held up the restraints he’d used on the monster. “But we need to return these.”

Sky grinned, following Jack to the storeroom. No cameras in there.

*

Sky pulled away as the alarm blared, taking a moment longer to enjoy the feeling of Jack’s hands against his skin before he commented, “At least we’ll be able to beat someone up this time.”

“And let’s do it quickly.”

“We’ll need to review the battle after.”

Jack sighed, sliding his hands out from beneath Sky’s shirt. “I hate you.”
