So, because of the heart attack, my mum's been obviously off work. Which would be fine, except she's now gotten all these ideas for these projects she wants to do, and who's helping her?

Anyway, she's trying to build a family tree. Her mother's side of the family is all sorted, but she knows very little about her dad's side. He came over from Poland just before WW2, and mum thinks the rest of his family died in concentration camps.

Does anyone know of any websites or organisations where you can try to find information about these things? I know there must be places but I honestly haven't the energy to start searching myself. But I thought some of you might have tried to trace relatives.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

The only one I know of is this one (http://www.ancestry.co.uk/) but it might not be much help given the Polish connection.

Family trees are a controversial subject in my family. One of my cousins on my father's side has been drawing up their family tree for years. However while my father's first wife, their children, their kids' offspring and grandkids are on included, she has left my mum, my sister and me off of it!

Thank you! Will try.

Draw your own and 'forget' to put her on :). See how she likes it!

Pre-WWII Poland searches can be difficult (My mom's father was immigrated to the US from there, too), but I can kind of help with WWII Holocaust Survivor/Victis searches-- I'd suggest starting with the US Holocaust Memorial Museum (http://www.ushmm.org/research/library/family/) resources, since they've put a lot of resources into locating people, compiling survivor testimony on who died, etc. Hopefully you have a few surnames/home towns to work with, otherwise it might be difficult.

Hope this helped!

It would be much easier if they all just came from Scotland :). But thank you so much for that link, it looks very useful. We do have names so hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult!
